Brigid, The Fire of Creation | 25mm
I’ve always believed there is a little bit of magic in the things we create with our hands. Something happens when imagination becomes tangible, when an idea that existed only in our thoughts suddenly takes shape in the physical world. We take something ordinary and, through patience, curiosity, and a little bit of fire, transform it into something that didn’t exist before.
Brigid, the Celtic goddess associated with poetry, inspiration, healing, and the sacred flame, feels especially close to my heart. She represents that beautiful connection between creativity and transformation, the idea that making something is its own kind of magic.
This marble feels like a celebration of that creative fire.
Brilliant ribbons of cobalt blue wind through rich violet and magenta, surrounding extraordinary flashes of molten copper and shimmering gold. The metallic colors seem to glow from somewhere deep within the glass, while delicate folds of electric blue curl around them like little rivers of light. Tiny bubbles and intricate details are suspended throughout, creating an incredible sense of movement and dimension.
There is something fascinating about the way these colors interact. The brilliant copper seems almost alive against the saturated blues, as though the glass has somehow managed to hold on to a little piece of the flame that brought it into existence.
And I love that thought.
Every piece of glass I create begins with possibility. A handful of colors, a flame, and an idea that may or may not become what I originally imagined. Sometimes the most beautiful moments happen when I allow the glass to surprise me.
Brigid reminds me that creativity isn’t always about knowing what we are making. Sometimes it is about trusting the process, following the things that inspire us, and allowing ourselves to discover something extraordinary along the way.
There is a beautiful kind of freedom in creating simply because something inside us wants to become something outside of us.
