I’ve always been fascinated by the places where water and light meet. The way sunlight moves beneath the surface, bending around things we cannot quite see, turning ordinary colors into something extraordinary. There is an entire world beneath the water, alive with movement, color, and little mysteries that only reveal themselves when you stop long enough to look.

Siren’s Garden reminds me of that hidden world.

Brilliant ribbons of turquoise, electric blue, and vivid chartreuse twist through deep cobalt and midnight violet. Delicate striped patterns curl into intricate spirals, winding around luminous green folds that resemble underwater leaves moving with the current. Transparent layers create little windows into the marble, allowing light to travel through the glass and illuminate details tucked beneath the surface.

What I find especially beautiful about this piece is the contrast between the darker blues and those impossibly bright greens. The colors seem to move around one another rather than simply sit beside each other. Some of the ribbons are tightly wound, while others stretch into long, flowing curves, creating this wonderful feeling that everything inside is still in motion.

And then there are the little surprises. A flash of golden light where two colors meet. A delicate spiral hidden beneath a larger ribbon. Tiny bubbles suspended in the glass, catching the sunlight like droplets of water.

Turn the marble, and the entire landscape changes. What looked like a dark underwater cavern suddenly opens into brilliant turquoise and green. The patterns rearrange themselves with your perspective, revealing another little corner of a world that feels much larger than the glass holding it.

I think that is part of what makes marbles so special to me. There is something extraordinary about creating an entire landscape within something small enough to hold in the palm of your hand. A place that doesn’t exist anywhere else, that you can return to again and again and still discover something new.
