Calypso is one of those pieces I keep picking up even after I’ve put it down. There’s something about the way the colors move through one another that makes me want to see just a little more.
From one side, rich coral and vibrant pink fill the glass with warmth. Turn it, and brilliant cobalt blue flows across the surface, electric green emerges from behind delicate ribbons of black and white, and little flashes of gold catch the light between the layers.
What fascinates me is how dramatically the colors change depending on where I’m looking. The warm tones seem to glow against the cooler blues, while the green brings an entirely different energy into the glass.
I can’t decide which view I love most, and I don’t really want to. There’s a certain pleasure in not being finished with something, in knowing there’s still another little detail waiting to be discovered.
