Zéphyrine, The Shape of the Wind | 26mm
I’ve always wished there were a way to see the wind. Not just the way it moves through the trees or carries the clouds across the sky, but the wind itself. All those invisible currents moving around us, connecting places we’ve never been and carrying little pieces of the world from one place to another.
Zéphyrine is a beautiful French feminine name inspired by Zephyrus, the gentle west wind of Greek mythology. I love the softness of the name and the idea of something that can move through the world without ever needing to be held in one place.
This marble feels like what might happen if the wind suddenly became visible, gathering every color it touched along the way.
Extraordinary ribbons of luminous turquoise and electric blue curl through vivid lime green, violet, magenta, and fiery orange. Delicate white and black striped details weave between the layers, while translucent wisps of pale blue seem to float effortlessly through the glass. On one side, a beautiful violet formation almost resembles a flower opening, surrounded by brilliant green and intricate little folds of color.
There is an incredible sense of movement within this piece. The ribbons twist and spiral around one another, disappearing beneath the surface only to emerge somewhere entirely unexpected. Tiny suspended bubbles catch the light like droplets of morning dew, and every rotation reveals another beautiful intersection of color.
What fascinates me about the wind is that we can never really see where it begins or where it ends. We only experience the moments when it touches something. The way it catches our hair, moves across our skin, or sends the petals of a flower dancing through the air.
And I think there is something beautiful about that.
So much of life happens in ways we cannot see. The connections we make, the influence we have on one another, the little moments that change the direction of our lives without us even realizing it.
Zéphyrine reminds me that not everything meaningful needs to be visible to be extraordinary.
Sometimes the most beautiful things are the ones we can only recognize by the way they move us.
